Bryna and Kirk’s wedding at Lewis & Clark College featured an exquisite array of colorful florals and the most epic dance party! After getting engaged while traveling Europe, the two initially scheduled their wedding day for 2020…and you can probably guess what happened next. But, even through the disappointment of needing to cancel, the two made the best of it. They opted to get married in an Oregon micro wedding before jetting off to the East Coast to complete their residencies. A year later, they returned to the Portland area to say their final “I do”—this time, with all their friends and family present to celebrate with them!
Colorful & Contemporary Bridal Style
I loved that these two didn’t shy away from bold colors and patterns when choosing outfits for themselves and their wedding parties. Bryna’s bridesmaids wore floral gowns in vivid shades of scarlet and cobalt blue with accents of tangerine and pink. Meanwhile, Kirk also incorporated florals into his ensemble with an aqua necktie adorned with delicate pink blossoms. His navy blue suit matched his groomsmen’s neckties, while their suits of light gray lent a bit of softness to the color palette.
The vibrant colors worn by her bridesmaids made the pure ivory of Bryna’s Sarah Seven gown stand out even more! With a one-shoulder bodice and simple a-line skirt constructed from clean lines of crepe, she looked like a modern bride’s dream. Her hair, swept to one side and falling in soft curls down her back, exuded the glamour of old Hollywood, while a pair of emerald earrings completed the look.
In addition, Bryna and her bridesmaids carried bouquets from Brier + Ivy filled with a striking mixture of ivory and brightly colored blooms. Creamy white dahlias nestled with roses in shades of soft peach and bold coral, while a few sprigs of Craspedia added a playful element to the arrangements.
Late Summer Wedding at Lewis & Clark College
Tented weddings are one of my specialties, so I was thrilled when Bryna and Kirk told me that they wanted a tent for their reception. We took a regular pole tent and made it stunning with an array of design elements and strings of cafe lights. White folding chairs surrounded farm tables in rich shades of mahogany to provide plentiful seating, courtesy of The Party Place + Bridgewood. Atop each table, silky scarlet napkins joined boughs of eucalyptus studded with pink roses and clear ribbed votives. While the color palette was decidedly romantic, elements such as the sleek white chargers kept everything looking clean and modern.
As the sun set and the lights began to glow, the couple and their loved ones shared a delicious meal from White Pepper. Before long, Event Team Entertainment had the dance floor rocking! Bryna changed into a sequined mini dress and they danced the night away. It was so good to witness these two finally having the celebration of their dreams, and I’m so glad that they trusted me to pull it all together!
