Janelle and Charlie’s love story began when they met at a bar outside the city. Charlie has three kids from a previous marriage, two of whom have special needs. He and Janelle wanted to make sure that his sons could participate in the day, so we chose to plan a backyard wedding at their beautiful home! Intimate Summer Wedding in Blue Point

Janelle loves to design and was hands-on throughout the planning process! Her desired aesthetic was rustic elegance, which was the perfect fit for the couple’s elevated backyard space. Our team arranged bistro chairs and round tables draped in white linen around the couple’s pool for an airy, refined feel. We also scattered red and pink rose petals in the water for a touch of romance!

In the shade of the adjoining pool house, the couple exchanged their vows in front of an intimate gathering of loved ones. Janelle didn’t want to be the center of attention—she didn’t even want to walk down an aisle! So, we kept the guest list minimal and avoided any ostentatious decor (the space was beautiful enough as it was!). The couple exchanged brief yet heartfelt vows poolside as their nearest and dearest looked on.

Tented Backyard Reception

More guests joined the couple later on for their tented reception! Great food and dancing were priorities for these two, so we hired the best the NYC area offers. Montauk Catering Co. is our go-to for weddings on Long Island, and they didn’t disappoint! The menu was impeccable, from a mouthwatering charcuterie board that was the highlight of cocktail hour to a plated dinner of lamb chops they grilled on-site. Meanwhile, Preston Dugger of 74 Events got guests of all ages up and dancing!

Since the wedding took place around Charlie’s 60th birthday, Janelle wanted to do something special. Hiring a cigar roller was the perfect way to pay homage to him while providing a unique experience for all the couple’s guests! Village Cigar Headquarters set up a cigar bar where they rolled each cigar “to order” as guests looked on.
