Enchanted Rose Garden Wedding at the Sentinel Hotel: McKenzie + Paul

McKenzie and Paul’s love story is as magical as the ‘rose garden’ they created within the walls of the Sentinel Hotel. With a color palette of white, blush, and green and some topiaries and hedges from Royce’s Prop Shop, their vision came to life! The opulent architecture of the venue, with its tall columns and ornate inlaid ceilings, added to the splendor.

A Unique First Touch

One of my favorite details from this wedding was McKenzie and Paul’s first touch. During the planning process, Paul expressed that his one wish was to have a piano at the wedding. He is a trained pianist, so we decided to incorporate the instrument into their first moment together on their wedding day! While he played a romantic number, McKenzie slipped into the room and stood behind him with her hand on his shoulder. At the end of the piece, they said a prayer together and parted until their ceremony. It was a positively breathtaking moment that spoke volumes about their affection for one another.

While she didn’t allow Paul to see her before the ceremony, McKenzie opted for a first look with her father. During that moment and so many others, the couple’s love for their family was so apparent. McKenzie’s father wore a tux with an embroidered inscription reading “McKenzie’s Special Day” on the inside of his jacket, and danced with her to “The Hustle” after their traditional father-daughter dance. What’s more, the couple had a “House Party” in their ceremony aisle to include each of their nearest and dearest in their day.

Reception in the Sentinel Hotel Governor Ballroom

While the couple’s appreciation for music was a part of their first touch, it was even more apparent during the remainder of their day. Their ceremony and cocktail hour featured performances from The Ariel Consort and pianist Reece Marshburn, while The Notables played during dinner. Afterward, Event Team Entertainment got the party started!

Their reception was full to the brim with luxurious details, but the multilayer wedding cake was the most showstopping of all! Dream Cakes created and designed the confection which featured floral designs from Letters + Dust on clear acrylic boxes separating each layer. In addition, florals from Blum cascaded down the sides. All was thoughtfully designed to play off their custom wedding invitations and create a cohesive event from start to finish! Letters & Dust also contributed their creative expertise to mirrored walls in the foyer of the hotel, with quotes from Disney and Pixar’s “Up.” There was no better way to celebrate this fun-loving couple before they jetted off to their honeymoon at Disney!

Working with McKenzie and Paul to plan their enchanting wedding day at the Sentinel Hotel was an honor. As an experienced events professional, I would love to talk with you about how I can elevate your wedding day and take the planning stress off your shoulders. You can get in touch with me here!
