Heather and TJ met working at a movie theater and bonded over their love of film and adventure. One of their first trips together was to Six Flags. During a visit, TJ realized Heather was truly the one, and therefore he chose that same location to pop the question. It was truly a love story and Heather had no hesitation in saying, “YES!”
Their whimsical wildflower look was inspired by a movie they once saw together, but the little details didn’t stop there. The groom walked down the aisle to Jurassic Park and their first dance, “I Wanna Grow Old With You” was from The Wedding Singer. Their main message was marry the person who makes you feel like you’re in a romantic comedy.
Heather has such an eye for detail. She knew from the beginning that Jenny of Wildflower Floral Events was the perfect fit for her whimsical wildflower look. Given that The Estate at East Wind Long Island has a few spaces, all with different vibes, we decided that we needed to get creative.
The transformation started as guests entered the building. They were taken under a gorgeous chandelier draped in white roses and greenery. The fireplace was also decorated with flowers and candlelight. Guests were then escorted to the outside patio, which was tented due to the possibility of rain. Heather wanted the metal structure transformed into a backdrop so that their ceremony could seem like an adventure through cinema, making them feel like they were in a movie. It truly was magical!
Sunflowers are one of Heathers favorite flowers so there was no question, we had to incorporate them into both the ceremony and cocktail hour. Gorgeous ice blue linens with small centerpieces were used to transform the rustic Italian themed room. Alane of Write Pretty For Me, who had designed her wildflower acrylic invitations, continued the theme and created a seating chart, drawing gorgeous wildflowers, which complimented the look. She finished off the bar with a watercolored cocktail sign.
Go two rooms over and you were transported into a reception room that felt like a luscious garden. For me, it was The Secret Garden in real life! Lennox ice linens, silver chargers, and green napkins from BBJ La Tavola created the canvas. A mixture of floating candles and beautiful pops of white, blue, and green made the room sparkle! Again, no details were overlooked.
As guests exited the venue they were met with a “build your own a station to build your wildflower bouquet” station. All the wildflowers that were used to create the ceremony were repurposed for guests enjoyment - it was a HUGE hit!
I remember getting a call from the mother of the groom, talking with Heather and TJ on zoom, and feeling so excited to be part of this magical day. It was truly an honor to plan, design, and create with them. Heather from Never There Yet Photography and Jessy Figgs from Jessy Figgs Film and Photos did an amazing job capturing the day.
