A Rainy Day Tappan Hill Mansion Wedding
As a wedding planner in New York, I've seen my fair share of beautiful celebrations. But Jackie and Louis' recent wedding at Tappan Hill Mansion was truly something special. From the moment we started planning, I knew this would be a day to remember. Getting Ready: Pampering and Preparations
The day began with the bride and groom getting ready separately, surrounded by their loved ones. Jackie was a vision in her stunning off-the-shoulder gown, complete with a train and veil that seemed to go on forever! Her bridesmaids complemented her perfectly in shiny floor-length maroon dresses, each with a unique strap style that added a touch of individuality.
Meanwhile, Louis and his groomsmen headed to Benny & Bina's Hair Studio for some pre-wedding pampering. They all got fresh shaves and stylish haircuts, ensuring they looked their best for the big day. The men were dapper in classic black and white suits, topped off with bow ties for that extra touch of elegance.
A Breathtaking First Look
One of the most magical moments of the day was the couple's first look. Louis waited at the bottom of Tappan Hill Mansion's gorgeous staircase, filled with anticipation. As Jackie descended, their eyes met, and the love between them was unmistakable. You can see the look of awe in Louis' eyes in the photos as he saw his bride for the first time. The bridal party watched from above, adding to the emotional atmosphere of the moment.
As a wedding planner, I don't always get to witness first looks, so seeing these moments captured in the photos is always a treat. It's a reminder of why I love what I do – being part of these intimate, life-changing moments is truly special.
Despite the rain, Jackie and Louis didn't let it dampen their spirits. Instead, they embraced it! Using clear umbrellas as props for some truly spectacular outdoor photos. The results were breathtaking – a testament to how a little creativity can turn any situation into something beautiful.
A Wedding Ceremony in the Pavilion Room
The ceremony took place in the Pavilion Room at Tappan Hill Mansion, and we pulled out all the stops to create a stunning backdrop. We had worked with Bombshell Graphics to design a dance floor wrap, which became the aisle. Damselfly Designs set up a running floral archway with varying heights in front of the overlook balcony – one reaching to the ceiling, the other halfway. The flowers were a glorious mix of colors – pinks, peaches, purples, oranges, and lush greenery. To add a touch of magic, they strung lights across the ceiling. Then they placed tall vases filled with water along the aisle, each with a floating candle and greenery at the base. The effect was romantic and ethereal – perfect for their love story.
Cocktail Hour
One of my favorite parts of this wedding was the personalized touches during the cocktail hour. Jackie and Louis were able to join their guests, having taken their photos after the first look (a trend I'm seeing more and more often!). They set up a "Generations of Love" table displaying photos from their family members' weddings – a beautiful way to honor their heritage and the love stories that came before them.
For the table chart, we used champagne flutes with guests' names and table numbers – a fun and festive touch. And instead of a traditional guest book, the couple chose a telephone guest book, which is becoming increasingly popular. It's these unique details that really make a wedding memorable!
A Wedding Reception in the Pavilion Room
After the ceremony, my team and I got to work transforming the Pavilion Room into a stunning reception space. We set up circular tables, some with tall, dramatic flower bouquets, others with smaller but equally beautiful arrangements. Candlesticks added a warm glow to each table. The couple chose clear charger plates with a black ridge, adding a modern touch to the table settings. The cake was another showstopper – a three-tiered beauty surrounded by florals that perfectly matched the overall design.
As mentioned above, the couple opted for a dance floor wrap—a sleek white surface—on which we placed a black monogram of the couple's initials. It was the perfect centerpiece for the night's celebrations. When the dance floor opened, the energy was electric. Seeing everyone come together to celebrate Jackie and Louis' love was the perfect end to a beautiful day.
Another Fabulous New York Wedding for the Books
As I watched Jackie and Louis share their first dance, I was reminded once again why I love being a wedding planner. It's not just about the details or the designs – it's about creating a day that reflects a couple's love story. And for Jackie and Louis, their rainy day romance was nothing short of magical.
